The weather stays so warm here, it makes everything seem easier.
Most of the people on the Venice Boardwalk come from far away,
escaping rough homes and dreaming of a warmer, freer life
on the California coast.
Travelers rarely have the intention of staying long --
they have plans to hitchhike up north or catch a train back home.
They say they're just passing through Venice for a few days in the sun.
But so often they stay, trapped by the pull of the ocean's tide with no place left to go.
